We didn’t inquire about access to a computer printer to print out our boarding passes. Bonuses: complimentary access to two jugs of fresh water infused with strawberries or citrus fruits, free newspapers, cookies, and apples. Thus, we had to go across the street at the Westin Hotel to get one. Finding a taxi in front of the hotel was difficult. The walk from the Strip to the hotel was roughly 10 minutes. Unlike other Vegas hotels, we didn’t have the option to park our car by ourselves. Also, go there for cheap munchies, souvenirs, and alcohol. If you need good maps, go to the ABC Store in the Miracle Mile Shops. What a major mistake!! You seriously need a microscope to see the names of the streets! Don’t waste your $10 on this garbage. In a bizarre way, there was a sign to not open the maps or we had to buy them. Next door was an am/pm gas station that had maps for sale. We inquired about buying a map but it wasn’t available at the hotel. We planned to rent a car and drive to suburbs of Vegas. Most importantly, we were very comfortable. Overall, it was quiet except for the odd garbage truck noise overnight. It was huge! It included a full kitchen, 2 Queen beds, 2 TVs, Internet access, balcony with patio furniture, a washer/dryer, and a large bathroom with a whirlpool to fit two people. As soon as we came back to the Princess Suite, we were pleasantly surprised with the suite. We had to wait for an hour since it was being cleaned. Fortunately, the staff member, Nathan, was kind enough to give us a complimentary upgrade to the Princess Suite. We immediately complained and asked for an upgrade. However, the large size of the Solitaire Suite would certainly allow for a two-person whirlpool. We weren’t sure if the tiny whirlpool is designed for them. Outside the room was a sign that stated something as a room for handicapped persons. To our shock and dismay, the whirlpool was very small almost apartment-sized! It would only fit a person with a small frame. After a lengthy flight and an exhausting shuttle from McCarran, we checked in to the Solitaire Suite with two Queen beds + kitchen + whirlpool. The Platinum Hotel & Spa was the ideal choice because of all the above plus full kitchen, proximity to the Strip, and a whirlpool. We wanted a quiet and romantic few days in Vegas without the gambling and especially the smoking.
